Every so often, as you are traveling about in a game world, you come upon a guild name that makes you giggle, or even laugh out loud. Inevitably, if I am able to quickly stop and do so, I tweet out the cool guild name and then go about my business. But since tweets are ephemeral, I thought why not start a running list of all the cool/funny/awesome Star Wars: the Old Republic Guild Names I come across?

As an aside, it’s interesting to see how many guild names are Game of Thrones references…
* A guild moving on to SWTOR from STO. I suspect we’ll see a number of World of Warcraft Guilds that pack up their guilds, moniker and all, for playing Star Wars the Old Republic.

I have to put in a plug for the guild that Asros and a bunch of us from Twitter have put together Republic-side…No Sleep Till Kessel. Why I had the Beastie Boys in my head when they were brainstorming guild names on Twitter and threw that one out there, I have no idea, but it seemed to stick.

If I were starting a TOR guild, it’d have to be a Spaceballs theme: “We brake for nobody”
I always have to start at least 1 guild per server– for the bank alt!

Saw someone from “The Webel Alliance” (Imperial though) last night.
My husband and I have a guild on WoW that will be more fitting on SWTOR, and the majority of our most active members will be playing SWTOR as well: Spaceballs The Guild!

My brother’s guilds are called (imp) Sith Out of Luck, and (rep) We Ain’t Found Sith. Both gave a little giggle. Gotta love the spaceballs/star wars geek check.

It’s a fine line between funny-guild-name and merely a one-liner. So while I giggle at “Sith happens” (how could I have never noticed that anagram?), I’d rather belong to a guild of pirates (of the Korriban!) or a group dedicated to Curbing Imperialism or wiping out those furry little creatures (Ewokalypse Now!).
Ewokalypse Now is a simply brilliant guild name imho…
