Surprisingly, the Rakghoul Plague went out with a whimper this week. Although we had been warned of the end day/time by the devs earlier, it was surprising, after such an immersive event had taken place, to find activities on the fleet back to normal. Well, other than the few remaining rakghoul plague victims who kept exploding all over the GTN.
What I’d been expecting was some sort of finale to cap off this engaging event. Maybe a big battle that broke out in the fleet. Or an all-galaxy intercom announcement that a cure had been found. Or an email that all those plague samples we sold to that adorable little Jawa paid off in finding a way to contain the virus.
Instead, it was just gone. Poof. And we were returned to our every day lives. James Ohlen has asked folks to share feedback on the event, so I hope folks who feel similarly will also chime in on this.
What about you — did you feel the event needed some sort of story completion or a finale? Or were you happy with how it ended? Share your thoughts in the comments.
I agree. For such a story-driven game, it’s odd it ended the way it did. Some sort of wrap-up/solution would’ve been pretty awesome.
At first, I thought I must have missed out on whatever had happened due to being at work. I was disappointed to not have a close to the story.
Thanks for the link! I left my own feedback too.
I don’t really agree that the event needed to end with a bang though, specifically because I knew I wasn’t going to be online right at end time. 😛
Even a small bang (i.e. an email or all clear announcement) would have closed out the story 🙂
I don’t feel that it *needed* some kind of a big announcement, but I was sort of shocked that there wasn’t. For all the news flashes and fleet announcements and everything it seems like there would have been something said about it at least.
I think most of the news stuff was really just there to bait you into the event in the first place, though. That being the case I can understand why there was no conclusion since all they could really say is “You don’t have to go to Tatooine anymore. Back to your regularly scheduled gaming.”
I was disappointed in the abrupt ending, but otherwise this event was a huge success if you ask me.
I truly enjoyed the event overall. But was disappointed not to have any sort of conclusion to the event/storyline.
Just like the Empire to sweep this under the rug like it never happened! And now there’s a dirty little Jawa running around with millions of Rakghoul DNA samples planning to do who knows what with it! I tried to warn you about this!
I’m guessing that the Republic tried to take the credit for our enterprising little Jawa’s work, and that as such, the truth about the containment is now buried in the sand along with him…
As Bounty Hunter let me tell you. Jawas don’t die. They multiply. Don’t be surprised if the plague comes back. Think of it as a Flu.
I’m sure that it was the back-biting republic who kidnapped the inovative little jawa and will certainly use his research years later when they betray the galaxy with their terrible clone army. I suspect that it was the senate who’s covering the whole thing up.
Nod, never trust a senator…
I managed to miss all the excitement. I logged in once, saw a news report, and that was it. Didn’t even get to see any plague or get any neat items. Oh well.
awww bummer!
I guess due to when you can an be on, it was not practical to have a real-time finale. I would not have been surprised to see a finale but not overly surprised when it did not happen.
The most annoying thing to me is that my alts are still dieting. Over should mean over; not “all the rewards are gone but the annoyances remain.” Plus what to do with the DNA samples from Tuesday & Wednesday? Delete them as I should? Waste a bag slot since SR said there might be a future vendor? It was not an OCD-friendly event.
Hehe yeah, I still have post-event DNA samples in my bag, And have had a few characters die post event from exploding.
